What an amazing first week at DUTC!.

The 9th of September marked not only the opening of the new UTC right here in Doncaster but also the welcoming of our year 9 students, with year 12 arriving on Friday the 11th. Staff and students alike were all overjoyed for the start of this new journey in education and for the future of Doncaster.
After months of uncertainty in these current circumstances, we have taken a number of measures to ensure all our students and staff members are safe to return to school. Both year 9 and year 12 are kept in year group ‘bubbles’ and masks in corridors are encouraged, with hand sanitiser provided upon entry to the building and to classrooms. Students are kept within these bubbles for their morning break and lunchtime, with year 12 encouraged to enjoy the freedom that studying at a UTC allows and to spend their free time off-site.
These measures are there to make sure our school will remain open and provide the high standards of education our students so deserve. Students recognise the education they will be getting here at DUTC and one had this to say:
“I came to the Doncaster UTC because of the opportunities it will give me to reach my dream job as a biologist by gaining skills that other schools don’t offer.”
Students were welcomed by their form tutor and spent time together to understand the ‘Doncaster UTC way’ that will become their new way of life for however long they spend with us.
Doncaster UTC students have all come to school smartly dressed in their smart uniforms and the positive attitudes and behaviour we have witnessed has been amazing. So far over 3000 positive points have been issued within the first week alone!
One student said:
“I’ve already made new friends who seem really nice and I’m excited to spend more time getting to know people.”
All DUTC staff have had a brilliant time in our first few days and thank our students and their parents for putting their faith into our vision, and we know it will stay this amazing throughout the rest of the year.
